Biography

Until recently, Marty Michaels was an editor at the Chronicle of Philanthropy, in Washington. She and her husband, John, recently moved to the Fort Myers-Naples area, where John is an assistant professor of history at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Marty's spare time is consumed with procrastinating writing her master's thesis in communications at Johns Hopkins; exploring this strange new world of alligators, retired folks, and beautiful sunsets; waiting for the ACC basketball season to start; and doing yoga.
All this, of course, is merely windowdressing for her true passion: traveling. Marty is not truly happy unless she is planning or embarked upon a trip to a country where the sounds of a foreign language lull her into a deep sense of relaxation. She also likes the fact that she doesn't have to make the bed.
